Early chess sets made in ivory by master carvers were often in red and white combinations. Our game is an exact reproduction of an original by John Calvert, a Master of the Worshipful Company of Turners in London in 1795. The faux-ivory set of 32 pieces comes in a beautiful hardwood box with an inlaid chessboard top. Drawers on both sides hold the pieces securely. Measures 15" x 15" x 4.25".
